Brad Banker is the Founder and President of Lagniappe Brewing Company, brewer of Effinheimer Beer Brands.

 

Brad grew up immersed in the rich cultural heritage of Louisiana and over the years developed a deep appreciation for the traditions of his home state. Those traditions stayed with Brad and ultimately played a significant role in the naming of his future brewing business.

 

Formally educated and trained as an electrical engineer, Brad discovered home brewing over ten years ago. What started out as a hobby quickly turned into a quest for knowledge. Year after year Brad’s recipes improved as he strived for perfection. Eventually, the desire to brew full time would move Brad to leave his career as a successful engineer and devote his time to the design and development of his own craft brewery.

 

Lagniappe is a word most commonly identified as French or Cajun in origin. Its meaning had particular significance for Brad and his wife Tara as they pondered a long list of names for the brewery. Together, they wanted to share Brad’s world class craft beer with the world and give people “a little something more – a little something extra” which is the definition of Lagniappe.

 

Lagniappe Brewing was born.

 

Brad’s vision became a reality in February of 2009 when the doors of the brewery tasting room opened to the public. His Golden Ale, Porter, India Pale Ale, Hefeweizen, Lager and various seasonal varieties enjoy an ever growing following.

 

“I consider myself extremely lucky to get to do what I love every day. I brew beer for a living. When I get to see someone taste my beer for the first time – and I see their eyebrows raise and a smile slowly starts to form on their face – then I know I’ve got it right and nothing can replace that kind of satisfaction as a brewer”.
